MTA announces street closures for M train work

The MTA is working on the M line this spring between Middle Village and Bushwick in advancement of the Myrtle Viaduct/Fresh Pond Bridge project in July.

During these three weekends (June 2-4, June 16-18, June 23-25), M train service between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av-Broadway will be suspended between 12 a.m. Saturday and 5 a.m. Monday.

Starting the weekend of July 1-2, all M train service between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av-Broadway is suspended 24/7 from July 1st to September 1st. M service will be replaced by free shuttle buses making stops at all closed stations.

To prep for this work, streets will be closed for the staging of cranes, track panels and other materials.

Flagging and traffic devices will be used for street safety.

Parking will not be allowed on Palmetto Street between Onderdonk Avenue and Myrtle Avenue to allow one lane of traffic. Parking is also restricted at the following locations:

  • Forest Avenue between Putnam Avenue and 67th Avenue (Street closed 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday)
  • Madison Street between Fairview Avenue and Woodward Avenue (Street closed 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday)
  • Woodward Street between Woodward Avenue and Onderdonk Avenue (Street closed 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday)
  • Woodbine Street between Woodward Avenue and Onderdonk Avenue (Street closed 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday)
  • St. Nicholas Avenue between Gates Avenue and Palmetto Street (Street closed 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday)
  • Cypress Avenue between Gates Avenue and Palmetto Street (Street closed 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday)
