Borough Prez accepting community board applications

EJSU_Giordano3_7_17It’s 2017, and after a long, long presidential campaign season, it’s time to start thinking locally.

One of the best ways to get involved with your local community is to join the community board. They play an important advisory role in matters like land use and zoning, parks, education and more.

They contribute to the public dialogue by hosting hearings about budget priorities, infrastructure projects and even beer and wine applications and renewals.

It’s the best place to bring up issues important to you and your neighbors.

If you feel compelled to serve, here’s your chance. Borough President Melinda Katz is now accepting applications for all 14 community boards. Here in Middle Village, that’s Community Board 5.

“Queens is a borough of families, and our borough’s Community Boards help our families live better lives by addressing important quality-of-life issues,” Katz said. “To serve on a Community Board demands a significant commitment of time and energy, but any civic-minded resident interested is encouraged to consider applying.”
