Water main project: how does it affect you?

Last week, at the monthly Community Board 5 meeting, representatives from the Department of Design and Construction (DDC) detailed the water main work that will take place around 74th Street and Penelope Avenue.

“This project is necessary to improve storm water drainage and upgrade the city’s aging water main infrastructure system,” said Lisbeth Lora, the DDC’s construction liaison.

How will this affect you? Some residents nearby may see their water service affected. Lora said the agency will notify residents 72 and 24 hours prior to the shutdown.

“If your water is not restored by the time indicated on the shutoff notice, residents can call me or 311,” she said.
