School theater group performs for local students

Students throughout Middle Village, Glendale and Ridgewood got a special treat these last few days.

Christ the King High School’s Theater Production Group hosted a two-day performance of Annie: The Musical for local students in the neighborhood. In just two days, more than 1,800 students from the following schools attended the production: St. Margaret’s, Sacred Heart School Glendale, Notre Dame Catholic Academy, Our Lady of Hope, St. Helen’s, St. Bridget Catholic Academy, P.S. 113, P.S. 128, P.S. 28, P.S. 71, P.S. 58, P.S. 153 and Middle Village Preparatory Middle School.

“Over the years, Christ the King has strived to create strong community relations within its surrounding area,” said Michael Michel, president of the Christ the King campus. “One way we have done this is by inviting local schools to enjoy our musical theatre productions.”

In past years, the school’s theater group has put on a number of plays and productions, including famous titles like Phantom of the OperaThe Wizard of Oz and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

And there’s still time to catch some fun theater.

The group will host two more performances this weekend, Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, both at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.showtix4u.com or in person.
