Go Smart NYC is launched in Middle Village, Maspeth, Ridgewood and Glendale

The Department of Transportation announced the launch of Go Smart NYC, a program that encourages the use of sustainable transportation, in Middle Village, Maspeth, Ridgewood and Glendale. Residents are urged to walk, carpool and utilize public transportation and bike lanes.

The initiative will give participants access to a free travel toolkit and can track travel spending, physical activity and environmental impact. By logging their trips, participants can earn discount rewards at over 20 local businesses. The DOT will assist the community in installing City Benches, City Racks and Real Time Bus Information Signs.

The area was chosen because of its population, proximity to public transportation and bike lanes, its walkability and the high level of car ownership.
