Pictured below is one of multiple mysterious contraptions found in Middle Village last week. This device is located at the intersection of Elliot Ave. and Lutheran Ave. More devices are reportedly set up around Elliot Ave. and Fresh Pond Road.
Local residents took to Facebook to give their guess as to why the devices have been set up. Traffic noise, police monitor, Verizon Fios, and “to contact aliens,” were some of the many guesses that Middle Village residents gave.
The mystery was apparently solved when Police Captain Mackie informed a local resident that the devices are “pedestrian walk signal transmitters maintained by Welsbach.”
