You often hear about companies supporting their local community, but do you know how they are actually doing it?

Well, Arby’s Middle Village has been accomplishing this philanthropic feat by sponsoring the Heroes Youth Basketball League, a league for community kids, run every spring / summer since 1990.

Heroes is a platform where local teams, kids, families, and businesses connect in fun, competitive, family-like atmosphere. Game results & high scorers are published in the Queens Ledger Newspaper, weekly.

Because of Arby’s contributions, management of Heroes has been able to keep the price the same for the past 20 years. Families pay around $50 for their child to play on their team, an incredibly affordable price for a basketball league.

Last week, Heroes Basketball coaches converged at Arby’s on Metropolitan Ave. in Middle Village for the 28th annual Heroes Basketball Coaches Meeting. Tom Clarke, owner of Arby’s Middle Village, fed Heroes coaches as they learned new rules, handed in paperwork, and discussed their conflicts with Heroes management.

Arby’s on metro has been serving families in Middle Village and the surrounding neighborhoods by offering healthy meals at affordable prices.

Tom Clarke, owner of Arby’s, emphasized that he is committed to improving the health and wellness of residents in Middle Village, Glendale and all of Queens.

“Fitness on the court, combined with a well balanced diet is very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle,” said Clarke, a member of the Middle Village Kiwanis club and an extremely active member of the Middle Village community.

Families in Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale, Ridgewood and surrounding Queens areas love Heroes because of it’s fun, elite level of competition and extremely affordable pricing. There are divisions for 17u, 14u, and 12u.IMG_4769
