It looks like the Metropolitan-Fresh Pond bridge deck replacement project is finally moving forward.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) announced on Monday that Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America have chosen Beaver Concrete Construction Company to finish the job.

Unlike the previous contractor, New Jersey-based Mugrose Construction, which blew off the job and jeopardized the timeline, Beaver Concrete has actual experience with bridge rehab projects.

Currently, they’re working on multi-bridge component rehab projects in Brooklyn, Bronx and Staten Island. Oh, and they’ve been in business since 1946, so that’s a good sign.

Either way, let’s hope they finish the project and end the madness at that intersection.
