With the MTA in midst of a multi-phase renovation of the M train line, a local pol is calling for the return of shuttle buses for local residents.

Currently in its second phase, the project includes the complete demolition and rebuilding of the Myrtle Viaduct and Fresh Pond Bridge.

During the first phase, which lasted just two months, shuttle buses were provided to supplement M service for riders. Now Councilwoman Elizabeth Crowley is calling on the MTA to request additional shuttle bus service to provide some much-needed relief.

“These issues can be resolved by supplementing the subway shuttle with a shuttle bus that will follow the M line to the J/Z lines, similar to Phase I,” she said. “The Phase I shuttle buses arrived much more frequently than the current subway shuttles and were received favorably.”

Phase II of the project is expected to last seven more months.
